HERO offers a program to help low income seniors who need help with free home repair, maintenance or modifications.
Seniors who need help will call with a request. Volunteers will visit the home and complete an inspection to determine what work may be needed.
A project can be as simple as installing grab bars or stair treads. It may include a ramp, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, exterior doors, thermostat replacements, step and ceiling repair, and motion detectors for exterior lighting.
The City of Lansing, GLHC, Lansing Neighborhood Council (LNC), Tri-County Office on Aging (TCOA), Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP), Habitat for Humanity Lansing, Paint a Place, and the Lansing Neighborhood Council are partners in creating the program.
We need your help. We need volunteers to assist with home repairs and volunteer management. We also need a variety of building materials. Please call GLHC at (517) 372-5980 or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
